CUFFS: REAL LIFE

 How far does the extract try to create a scene that is portraying real life.

The extract attempts to place the police officers in 'real life' with everyday people in order to make them appear normal and a part of society. This is seen in the locations used. The police officers are seen in a café, in a town centre and on the motorway. All of these locations are seen in everyday life and people go to them or visit them. seeing the police here and not away from the public makes them appear included and part of everyday life and society.

During the chase sequence, a bird's eye view tracking shot displays the many cars, roads and roundabouts in the area of the chase sequence. This is effective at making us feel as if we are watching 'real life' as all the locations are recognisable as real, helping us to draw connections, as we would in real life, with where we may have been and what we may have seen.

However, the extract is unable to fully show real life as it is unable to break certain rules of television. Many things are affected by these rules. For example, due to being broadcast pre-watershed, swearing

or adult references are removed and cannot be shown as younger audiences are not supposed to be exposed to swearing or adult references.

cuffs offer excitement and the police working but also comedy within the police force and how they actually feel.

Two shot, Ryan in the shot talking to the lady but making sure that Jake here's the line "we don't care what your parents do" the focus then pans back out to Jake to show jakes reaction to this comment. then a motivated edit to jakes dad in his uniform.

 What is a two-shot and how can it be used?

A two shot is a shot which frames a view of the subjects. The subjects do not have to be next to each other but the effect will be the same for each time. The shot is used to show the emotional reactions between the subjects. The two shot is often used for romance, tension, and action.
